The 2025 Munich Motor Show is fast approaching, and that can only mean one thing – manufacturers are gradually unveiling their innovations for the event. Volkswagen, the local giant, has plenty in store. At the IAA Mobility in Munich, it will present, among other things, a concept for a new electric SUV. After the initial teasers, the Volkswagen ID.Cross has now been revealed in full, and the brand confirms that this is a near-production concept.
The SUV, named ID.Cross, will serve as an electric alternative to today’s T-Cross, and it’s not ruled out that it may eventually replace it. Its design will be heavily inspired by the T-Cross, meaning we can expect boxy shapes and the typical SUV styling – as confirmed by both the official sketches and real-life photos of the concept.
“Our new design language is called ‘Pure Positive’. It’s built on three pillars – stability, likability and a secret ingredient – and it will define the character of every future Volkswagen,” says Volkswagen’s head of design, Andreas Mindt.
In terms of size, the vehicle fits the category of small urban SUVs. It is slightly longer and notably wider than today’s T-Cross. Specifically, the ID.Cross Concept measures 4,161 mm in length, 1,839 mm in width, and 1,588 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,601 mm. These dimensions will likely be carried over to the production version.
The interior is said to be smartly designed to maximize cabin space. The trunk offers a generous 450 litres of space, and an additional 25 litres of storage can be found under the front hood.
This new model will be a sibling to the upcoming Škoda Epiq, with both vehicles sharing the MEB+ platform (also referred to as MEB Entry) tailored for affordable electric cars. A key difference from the current MEB architecture is the use of front-wheel drive. Battery options of 38 or 56 kWh are expected, depending on the version. All-wheel drive is also a possibility, thanks to the potential use of two electric motors. The concept presented here uses a 155 kW electric motor powering the front axle.
Let’s take a look at new cars planned for 2026 we already know something about.

The same technology will also be used in other small models from the VW Group. Volkswagen is preparing the small hatchback ID.Polo, while Cupra is working on a model called Raval.
Volkswagen will present the vehicle at the upcoming Munich Motor Show as a near-production concept, with the production version of the ID.Cross expected to follow in 2026. The model was previously referred to as ID.2X, but Volkswagen has since settled on the name ID.Cross in line with a new naming strategy for its electric lineup.
